Asya Dimitrova is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist based in the United Arab Emirates, working across painting, writing, conceptual narrative, and fashion design. Her practice centers on painting, with recurring engagement with perception, memory, and psychological space. Dimitrova works primarily in acrylic and oil on stretched canvas. Her compositions combine abstraction, symbolism, and psychological space, built up through layered impasto and restrained color palettes. Rather than resolving into fixed images, her paintings are structured to shift in meaning depending on the viewer, the light, and the context in which they are seen. Her approach draws on surrealism, existential thought, and narrative storytelling. Her current series, State of Becoming, comprises six original acrylic works on stretched canvas tracing a single arc of personal transformation — from the tension preceding rupture, through collapse, to a subsequent phase of reorganization.
